My Favorite Hooks

I bought one of these a while ago. It's been holding up great and is my go-to hook because it does not squeak and has a nice, pointy hook, making entering stitches and hooking easy.

Birch Crochet Hooks

I really like any wooden type crochet hook or knitting needle. I have arthritis in my hands and the wooden tools make it much easier to work on my projects. They don't slip like metal or plastic products.

Birch Crochet Hooks - Trial and Error

I love crocheting with the wood hook I have and ordered a bunch of these to use on various yarn weights. On a project with Momenti yarn, the hook kept snagging. I ended up back with a metal hook for that blanket. Trying the 'J' birch hook with worsted basix I kept dropping stitches. The hook was too light in my hands, the work too slow, and even if the hook size was right, I wasn't happy. Crocheting is my time to relax, not get frustrated! Despite my problems, I will keep trying on other projects until I get a good feel for the yarn and these hooks. The birch wood is a plus and I do prefer working with wood.

I inherited a wood crochet hook and it is a lot longer and has a weight to it that makes crocheting a breeze. But it can only work with certain yarn weights. The attached pictures show the differences.
