Anti-Pilling Club Maker Spotlight

Here at Premier®, we love engaging with our club members to see their creations, learn more about who they are, and what inspires them. Our APC Club Maker Spotlight series highlights our club members and their passion for anti-pilling yarn.

Our first spotlight is from one of our first members of the APC Club, Color My World Crochet.

Q: How did you get interested in (knitting, crocheting, crafting)? How did you learn?

I always admired the hand crocheted afghans that my grandmother made so I wanted to learn how to knit or crochet. I never got the hang of regular knitting and wasn't very successful with my first attempt at crochet. I learned how to loom knit and did that for a while. I decided to give crocheting another shot and I finally got it. I taught myself to crochet with the help of books and videos and I have now been crocheting for 10 years.

Q: Who/what inspires you?

I am very inspired by color. I love all colors including neutrals, jewel tones, earthy colors and soft muted colors. I am always excited to see how the colors evolve into a finished project. I am also a little bit inspired by current fashion trends and love to see what colors are "in" for the year.

Q: Favorite Premier Yarn?

I love the Everyday Worsted line. There is such a wide variety of beautiful colors and prints that can be used for just about any project. The yarn is so soft which makes it perfect for baby items or others with sensitive skin. And of course the anti-pilling is a big plus!

Q: What other hobbies do you enjoy?

I enjoy going to plays and musicals at our local community theater, as well as attending local art festivals. I also like to read and I am currently in a historical fiction phase with novels set in World War II.

Q: What’s your favorite yarn project to make?

I love to make hats. They are a quick enough project that doesn't become tedious or boring. I love the fact that I can have a finished project in 1.5 to 2 hours. And with so many crochet stitch patterns available, the hat design possibilities are endless!

Q: Where is your favorite place to crochet?

I usually just crochet in my living room, but I also have a quiet, cozy area in my enclosed front porch where I crochet in the warmer months.

Q: Any tips?

This is one I need to follow a little bit more myself. Slow down and enjoy the creative process. It's so tempting to try to cram as much creating as I can in a short period of time, but I feel like it's important to relax and enjoy the calming effect of crocheting.
