The yarn took a few tries to get used to the thickness and ripples. But once I got the hang of it, I was very happy with the results. I am using it to make head warmer and they are turning out beautifully.
I thought this yarn was more in the same type as the Lion Brand Chunky...but it was a total surprise. This yarn...or Berber was not a type that I could use to crochet with...it was an exceptional price and the quality is terrific. I just do not have a use for it...so I have a friend who is a professor at Wake Forest. She is over a knitting club for students and this is a perfect yarn to knit with...so I am donating it to the club for the students to use...any of us who have ever been to collage know how poor most students are while full time.
This fabulous, plush boucle yarn, acrylic/poly, looks and feels like expensive wool. The colors are rich and beautiful. Because of the lofty texture, it isn’t easy to work knitted stitches and one must take care of hand fatigue, but the extra effort is well worth it. I ordered it sight unseen and it did not disappoint. The yardage on each sk is generous.
Love the color - purple fade! Would love to have that same color in your Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted Yarn. The berber yarn would probably work best for small projects as you suggest in your description - to trim the brim of a hat or the cuffs of your mittens - as the end result is really beautiful. However, even as a very experienced knitter, working with this yarn is VERY difficult as it does not pull through easily and unexpectedly UNRAVELS very easily. It is extremely difficult to rip out in case of a mistake. For gifts I knit two fairly large projects - the Cropped Vest to which I added about 12" and a self fastening scarf, 19" x 80". The recipients LOVED their gifts. Due to the frustration during knitting, I would not buy this yarn again.
