For our latest project, we teamed up with five makers to create their own personal designs inspired by our latest yarns Rodeo and Luna. We asked the women a variety of questions about their lives, their work, and their designs. Read more to learn more about the stories of these women and the individual pieces they designed for this project.
Meet Elena Sandina
Q. How did you get started crocheting?
A. On my 10th birthday, I received a book on how to crochet with pictures, charts, and text. I fell in love with the crocheting world because it gave me an opportunity to create unique pieces.
Q. What inspired you to start posting crocheting tutorials in English?
A. When I started looking around for a crocheting tutorial for a project, I found a lot of tutorials in Russian and Spanish, but not so many in English, so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try and see how it goes. It has been great so far and I have gotten a lot of positive feedback.
Q. Why did you decide to make your tutorials free?
A. As a student, I tried to save as much as possible and was constantly on a hunt for free tutorials. Also, I know that there are many people who struggle with money and are trying to raise money by selling handmade products, so I look at the free tutorials as a little help I can provide to those in need, but who are still trying to make their life better.
Q. What are your favorite projects?
A. While I enjoy crocheting pretty much anything and have tried lots of projects, my favorite niche is fashion. I love creating unique pieces and see people's reaction to handmade garments. It's priceless!
