Premier Yarns is proud to announce a partnership with S.A.C.K. (Supporting A Community with Kindness) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization inspiring people to crochet/knit soap sacks and donate them to homeless shelters, food pantries, relief efforts, mission trips and veterans clinics.
S.A.C.K. is grassroots effort to connect people from all over the United States while crocheting/knitting soap sacks and then donating them (with a bar of soap in each one) to homeless shelters, food pantries and transitional housing centers.
Stacy Wiener, Founder of S.A.C.K.:
“Throughout the under-served population, there’s definitely a need for toiletries,” Stacy said in an interview to the Two River Times. “Realistically speaking, if people have extra money, they’re going to buy food for their family. They’re not going to go out and buy a bar of soap.”
In less than two years, over 14,000 soap sacks have been distributed. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. There is a definite need for toiletries throughout the underserved population and charities such as United Way, Red Cross, The Kura Project and Eco Soap Bank are always looking for support.
Soap sacks are the perfect project for any age crafter from beginner to experienced. They give a great sense of importance and accomplishment when finished. The pattern is easy and perfect for sitting in front of the TV, long car rides and is a great way to start a crafting group to start giving back to your local community.
Premier® Yarns is honored to partner with S.A.C.K., and is able to make the reasonably priced kits available to produce soap sacks for donation.
